New Year's Eve 2016 and New Year's Day 2017

We had a relaxing and low-key New Year's Eve (read: we are old and lame, but it was perfect for us). We made a trip to the pool during the day and the girls had a blast swimming and splashing around with Grandma and Papa Jeff!

In the evening we set off a few small poppers and sparklers that the girls loved and we wished them a happy new year and put them to bed.

We found a live feed to watch in Dubai and settled down for some turtle cheesecake and card and dice games. Once the new year hit we hurried to the roof of our house and got to see fireworks from a few different directions around Baku (and of course all forgot our phones on the table downstairs so no pictures).

The girls got dressed up in their beautiful matching dresses from my mom's neighbor Ms Ann and we headed to church.

Afterwards we spent the day soaking up as much Grandma and Papa Jeff as possible since they were leaving early the next morning. :-( It's been a hard day since Madi woke up and the first thing she said was "Grandma and Papa Jeff aren't here. I'm sad." We sure do miss them, but are so thankful for the time we had with them over the holidays!

And of course we had the traditional black-eyed peas and cornbread for good luck in 2017!

Happy New Year!!
