September Summary

Things have started to feel more "normal" this month with the start of school (although it is a hybrid in-person and online combo) and beginning to have after school activities and social gatherings a bit more than we've been doing previously. It's been refreshing and also a bit exhausting after the long length of very low key activities, haha.

The weather has still been pretty hot and humid, but we haven't let that stop us from visiting the beach, mangroves, and bike rides outdoors.

  1. Fro-yo date with friends.
  2. Followed by impromptu fountain fun.
  3. Jazz classes start back up in person - 🎉
  4. Lusail marina bike ride - they have a grass area we've played freeze tag in during our ride
  5. Family bike ride
  6. The grassy area the girls like to play
  7. Olivia holding her own with the boys and water balloons 😂
  8. A brain break game of Candyland with Dad (perks of the two of them working from home)
  9. Our fall Bible study on Matthew started and it's been so encouraging!

  6. Madi trying out an arabic musical instrument with one string.
  7. Olivia climbing trees.
  8. Followed by Madison.
  9. And finally Evelyn all at the same time. 😂

Greenery in the Mangroves

This month I desperately needed to get out in nature, but especially get some green. I am thankful we've been able to visit the beaches so much this summer, but this Colorado gal has been missing mountains and trees.

A bit north is an area called the Mangroves. (You might recall we went on a kayaking trip there in January.) It was amazing and our entire family loved the trip and being on the water! It was the perfect place to re visit for a change of scenery and since we don't own kayaks, we grabbed our water shoes and took to the muck and wandered amongst the greenery one afternoon.

I'm thankful for these ladies who didn't hesitate to jump at the chance for an adventure in the Mangroves with us and who love on my girls like their own. ❤️

First Day of School Pics!!

It's hard to believe that the summer is gone and we are back to school. Things in Qatar have slowly started opening back up and school was delayed to start from August to September with a hybrid approach learning style. The girls have varying days they are in school and the rest of the days online.

It's definitely going to be a challenge given the girls are currently assigned opposite days, but we are thankful that Jason is still working from home to help and that the girls got to meet their new teachers in person and see their friends after their abrupt dismissal last March.

Welcome to second grade Madison!

Welcome to kindergarten Evelyn!

Welcome to kindergarten Olivia!

The new norm for walking into school (temp checks and directed traffic flow) plus a small treat we brought for our new teachers and helpers. ☺️

And a glimpse into our home classroom setup. The girls have new headphones on the way with inline microphones to hopefully help the few times they have simultaneous learning.

These goofballs are ready for the new 2020 - 2021 school year!
