Twin Tuesday: Sweater Dress Fun

I found this adorable sweater dress on sale at one of the tourist shops this past June... and of course I had to try and find another! Fortunately a co worker of mine who rotates offshore, but lives in Denmark let me order and ship one to him. I'm not wishing I had bought one for Madi also, but don't worry... triple matching dresses will be coming soon. ;-)

These three are soooo gorgeous and I feel unbelievably blessed to be their momma! Madi isn't in the rest of them because she wanted to take their picture rather than be in the pictures :-)

And just because who doesn't love a hilarious outtake. ;-)

Evelyn and Olivia: Three Months

I feel like you girls have just taken off in your growth! You are both so alert and aware of everything around you. You both have such beautiful and amazing smiles - and we are so lucky to see them constantly! You are the happiest babies! You both love your big sister and she's smitten with you as well.

Here are some of the memorable things from this month -

- You had your first visit out of the country when we took a trip to Poland with Ms Cindy!
- Evelyn is still rolling front to back quite a bit and seriously trying to roll back to front. :-/
- Olivia is holding her head up sooo well now! She's looking all over and doing really good!
- We've started working on cutting the middle of the night feed. It was consistently taking place around 4 am and we've pushed it to 5 am, then 530, and yesterday you slept until 645 am! So we are getting to the 730 am target slowly, but it's going well!

- You both love being on your backs on the playmat and hanging out. You are overall pretty chill and happy babies!
- You are both talking, talking, talking and we love it!
- Both of you are really smiley. However, Evelyn will just coo and smile and babble which is so precious! Olivia you need to lock eye contact with her and she holds your gaze and then smiles sooo big it just melts your heart! This makes it harder to catch Olivia smiling for pictures. :-/

- Even though Olivia looks bigger, Evelyn has now passed her in weight. I think this is because Olivia spits up a lot more since you are both eating about the same amount still. Evelyn is still longer and her face more narrow though.
- Both of you are starting to grab at objects and can hold them very well when placed in your hands.
- You are both very alert and fantastic at following objects with your eyes. A few times I have caught Olivia staring at her fist and being completely mesmerized!

- If I didn't know any better I would swear that Evelyn, and possibly also Olivia, are already teething. Evelyn has been drooling like crazy and blowing bubbles. Olivia has been some as well, but not nearly as much.
- I think you two have started noticing each other! I'll catch one of you staring at the other while you are eating (I am still tandem breastfeeding) and when we do tummy time I will have you facing one another sometimes.

Heaven Gained An Angel

There are a lot of wonderful things about living overseas and having the expat experience... but with any good thing comes trade-offs and sacrifices. One of the hardest things about being so far away from family when something difficult happens.

Last week my grandmother (who we called Babi, the Czech word for grandma) passed away. We knew she was struggling, but the speed at which the end came was still a surprise. And I am devasted she won't get a chance to meet Evelyn and Olivia this November when we travel there for the holidays.

Today is the funeral. And we aren't there. We discussed every option for attending - me going solo, me going with the twins, Jason and I going with the twins and leaving Madi here, all five of us going. None of them were ideal and in the end we decided that the hours of travel with such small little ones just wasn't going to be feasible. I am heartbroken that I won't be able to attend and help support my family through this difficult time.

But I am choosing to be thankful...

-Thankful that so many people are attending her funeral today to celebrate the life she lived
-Thankful that she is no longer suffering physically
-Thankful that she got a chance to meet Madi and spend time with her
-Thankful that I was able to have so much time with her to hear her stories
-Thankful that she shared with me how to cook her amazing matzo ball soup and Czech cookies
-Thankful that I got to just enjoy her and the amazing person that she was

Please keep my family, especially my dad and his wife Mary, in your prayers today.

Here is her obituary.
