Twin Tuesday: Third Trimester Recap

We'll see if I've given birth before this post hits on Tuesday when it's scheduled to Publish... ;-)

The third trimester was still really good overall. I continued seeing my regular doctor every four, then every two, then every week. We don't get to see many good ultrasound pictures anymore because of their size and position, but we got lucky and saw both Baby A (at 37 weeks) and Baby B (at 35 weeks). They continued measuring the same as a singleton and I don't have anything to complain about either! :-)

Baby A at Week 37

Baby B at Week 35

Here are some highlights -
  • Finished the nursery decorations and got everything hung and ready for their arrival!
  • Stopped working and got a chance to relax and take some time to finish baby books and get other small things wrapped up.
  • Grandma arrived June 27 to help watch Madi and be here for the birth of the babies
  • Both babies are still doing great overall - size is great, heart beats wonderful, and lots of movement (getting to the point of discomfort!)
  • My doctor, chiropractor, and acupuncturist said I am doing the best of all the twin pregnancies they've seen. I wish I could take credit for that, but it's purely genetics and this healthy country (although I did discover my favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream just arrived here... probably responsible for my extra weight gain this past week!). But honestly, it was a nice compliment and we are very grateful that I have done well, but especially that the babies are so healthy.
  • Finding out that I am 3 cm dilated at my last appointment! We could become a family of five any day now! :-)
Here are some lowlights -
  • I ended up having to take an antibiotic daily through week 35. I had two weeks of clear urine tests, but at my last appointment (week 37) it was back so I'm having to do one final round :-/
  • Starting to get pretty uncomfortable in general, but still nothing I can complain about.
Here are some random thoughts -
  • Believe it or not, I am still having trouble accepting the idea that we are having a baby soon, much less two! I know that sounds silly, but it still seems so surreal to me that I don't think it will fully sink in until I am holding our two little ones.
  • We have induction scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th. We still don't like the idea of being induced and are praying for wisdom on what to do should we have to face that decision.
  • Physically we are ready for these baby girls to arrive... mentally however, we will probably never be ready! But we are excited to meet our two new baby girls!

Oh and I may or may not have gotten a bit desperate and took to dancing to try and "evacuate" them babies. ;-)
